Recupel

In response to a legal obligation known as the take-back obligation Recupel asbl was founded in July 2001 by the Belgian industry and offers a collective solution for this legal obligation. As a not for profit organization, it coordinates the collection and the treatment of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) throughout Belgium. This activity is financed by the Recupel contribution that consumers pay when purchasing new appliances.
Since January 2007 Recupel has expanded its services under the take-back obligation to include professional electrical and electronic appliances. A tailor-made concept was designed taking into consideration the particularities of these professional appliances. For medical devices and laboratory equipment a solution was already provided in July 2005.
